D Vance reads a Dr. Seuss book on the Senate floor for his son's birthday.

Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) is sending a Dr. Seuss-inspired birthday message to his son directly from the Senate floor.

The Ohio Republican took the floor on Monday as the upper chamber proceeded to discuss a $95.3 billion national security supplemental that would provide foreign aid to Israel and Ukraine.

After speaking at length on his opposition to more aid to Ukraine, Vance stated, "Now, I'd want to move on to another argument.

But first, I'd like to mention something that is very personal to me.

After naming his three children with his wife, Usha, including six-year-old Ewan and two-year-old Mirabel, Vance focused on his middle child.

"I have a little guy named Vivek," Vance told me, "who was 3 years old yesterday but turned 4 today."

"And I'm sorry that they could, but I can't be with you for your birthday dinner," the 39-year-old legislator and author of "Hillbilly Elegy" told his son.

"But I want you to know how much Daddy loves you. And I'm going to read this into the record so you can watch it at home," Vance added, before reciting the 1990 Dr. Seuss classic "Oh, The Places You'll Go!"
