Daisy Ridley looks back on how Rey changed her 20s a decade after "Star Wars" began her career. Ridley, who featured in "The Force Awakens" (2015), "The Last Jedi" (2017), and "The Rise of Skywalker" (2019), told Inverse on Jan. 25 that "Amidst the chaos, I said, 'I'm okay. Im ok. Managing well. Everything's fine. I was mostly alright."
As she noted, "But it was not normal to other people," she had "quite this wrestle, of the reality and the fantasy that's often projected onto you," which distanced her from her friends and family.
On Jan. 26, 2024, Daisy Ridley attends SAG-AFTRA Foundation Conversations at the Robin Williams Center in New York City. After "The Rise of Skywalker" came out in 2019 "and everything was quiet," Ridley sat down enough to analyze everything since she was cast in 2014.
When the COVID-19 epidemic halted the globe, Ridley discovered "having to sit and just be still in lockdown was incredibly helpful, in a way I hadn’t anticipated." adds, "I realized there was a lot that I hadn’t processed properly.
Star of the independent film "Sometimes I Think About Dying," Ridley has been criticized by fans throughout her "Star Wars" career. She told British GQ's December 2019 cover story that fan and media attention wore her down.
"I saw a picture of me at the London premiere (for 'The Last Jedi') and I was so skinny and my skin was terrible," she said. "Tests showed my body was getting no nourishment. I felt like a skeleton and was exhausted. I was going ghost."
Stress has also caused gut wall perforations, she noted. Thank goodness she had a six-month sabbatical in London to recover normalcy before filming "The Rise of Skywalker." She was healthy when she returned to set. I was there. I was having fun "stated. "With this one, I had such a great time.
At Star Wars Celebration last year, Lucasfilm unveiled three new "Star Wars" films. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy revealed she's directing a third film about a "new Jedi order" with a "powerful Jedi master." Ridley would portray this leader, and she told the crowd she was delighted. The film will follow "The Rise of Skywalker," the last "Star Wars" feature. No release dates were specified for the three films.
