Donald Trump's strange connection with Fox News and its implications for other contenders(Part-1)

New York — Even if they disagree, Donald Trump, Nikki Haley, and Ron DeSantis may be most united by Fox News complaints in 2024.

The Republican nomination process has been done for a while at conservative America's favorite news source, but DeSantis and Haley are upset at alleged Trump favoritism. Not thankful, the former president often criticizes Fox for disloyalty, including attacking his former White House press secretary, Kayleigh McEnany, now a Fox contributor.

The unhappiness shows Fox News's continued role as an agenda-setter that shapes Republican politics. No one can climb the GOP's hill without it.

Haley said on “Fox & Friends” that her questioners wanted to “coronate” Trump. Shortly before his campaign ended, DeSantis stated conservative media groups like Fox fear losing viewers by challenging the ex-president.

After receiving so much attention that he signed invoices for the network's cameras, DeSantis had a rough few months. Fox has featured him 47 times since September. Haley made 45 appearances and Trump six.

“I think they were ready to move on from Trump, but the base of the party was not,” said conservative talk show host Erick Erickson, heard on 45 stations nationwide. “They don't want to alienate their viewers at the end of the day.

The DeSantis team was angered with Fox's town hall with Trump before the Iowa caucuses, when anchors Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum were criticized for being kind.

Trump requested and obtained a 9 p.m. Eastern Fox time slot for a Jan. 10 town hall to counter DeSantis and Haley's lone one-on-one debate on CNN. Fox conducted pre-Iowa town halls for DeSantis and Haley at 6 p.m. before prime time.
