Coach Nick Sirianni revealed Monday that Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Nakobe Dean will miss many weeks after injuring his right foot in the season opener against the New England Patriots.
Sirianni also noted that cornerback James Bradberry is in the concussion protocol and may miss Thursday's game against the Minnesota Vikings.
A source told ESPN that Dean is a candidate for short-term injured reserve but will not have surgery or be expected to miss the season.
Dean left in the third quarter, replaced by Christian Elliss. He wore a walking boot in the locker room after the game.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the Eagles are adding former Tennessee Titans first-round pick Rashaan Evans to their practice squad without Dean.
The only other active off-ball linebackers are Elliss and Zach Cunningham. Practice squad players Nicholas Morrow and Ben VanSumeren.
The Georgia third-round pick in 2022 became the starting middle linebacker when T.J. Edwards and Kyzir White left in free agency. After Dean left, safety Reed Blankenship relayed play calls to the defense.
