Shawn Purdy, Purdy's father, discusses 49ers' NFC title comeback fears.

In Santa Cruz — On Sunday night, the 49ers beat the Detroit Lions 34–31 in the NFC Championship Game at Levi’s Stadium, although some families were probably more concerned than others.

After the game, Brock's dad Shawn Purdy talked with NBC Sports Bay Area to discuss how he was feeling emotionally following the victory.

"I don't have any," Shawn remarked while jesting. I can't even begin to describe how happy I am right now. Peep at me again. The Faithful are really incredible, and I am ecstatic for Niner Nation.

The 49ers were down 24-7 at halftime in an NFC championship game, but Brock helped orchestrate a historic comeback after ripping the UCL in his throwing elbow a year ago.

The 49ers scored 27 points in a row when the Iowa State product returned from halftime, putting them up 27–0 and ensuring their trip to Las Vegas for Super Bowl LVIII.

The resiliency was something of which Shawn was really proud. It was immediately following last year's events, when he felt terrible for the lads. I had faith he would spare no effort in his pursuit of a repeat performance by these people and their title defense in 2023. It's hard to believe.

With a 132.8 passer rating, Brock completed 13 of 16 passes in the second half for 174 yards and a score. Not only that, but the Pro Bowl quarterback ripped the Lions to shreds with his legs, gaining first downs on each of his three scrambles for 52 yards.

"The character of this football team was on full display in the second half," Shawn said. This is what might have happened if they had all worked together, and that's exactly what happened, guy. Wow, I'm so impressed by every single player there.
